Artist Talk

Bruised Lands, Artist Talk and book launch with Alan Gignoux.

Join us on Thursday the 12th of December 6 – 7.30pm for Bruised Lands Artist Talk and Book Launch with photographer and Photofusion member, Alan Gignoux

Alan is an award-winning documentary photographer and filmmaker specializing in long-term projects exploring socio-political and environmental issues.

During the talk, Alan will be discussing his environmental projects and his photographic practice. He will also talk about the latest book in his Bruised Lands series: The Powers That Be, which he has created in collaboration with photographer Chloe Juno.

Bruised Lands brings together five unique, yet interconnected bodies of work, created over twelve years: Appalachia, Mountaintops to Moonscapes, Monuments, Oil Sands, Russian Rust Belt, and The Powers That Be. The series documents the relentless harvesting of natural assets and is a graphic and timely testament to the serious impact that industrial processes are having on the global environmental crisis.

The talk will take place at Photofusion: 6pm - 7.30pm.

New Exhibition

In partnership with main contractor Bryen & Langley Ltd, Photofusion commissioned two emerging photographic talents, Lucy Bruce-Gardner and The1Harris, to document the revitalisation of the Brixton Rec Quarter which Bryen & Langley Ltd delivered on behalf of the London Borough of Lambeth.

The project was funded by the London Borough of Lambeth and £2.17m from the Mayor of London’s Good Growth Fund.

The Rec is a new series of portraits from photographer Lucy Bruce-Gardner, made during conversations with local store owners, shoppers and people visiting Brixton Station Road Market. Her portrait "Erica" was short-listed for The Portrait of Britain Prize 2023 by the British Journal of Photography.

Rubble & Dust is a body of work from The1Harris, which captures quotidian sights of spaces, tools and workers during the construction of Photofusion and The Advocacy Academy’s new home.
