Hi, I’m JoAnn Onofre a documentary film photographer based in The Bronx, New York.

Thank you Photofusion so much for the opportunity to be apart of the Members Instagram Takeover and Blog! I’m sharing my ongoing film photography series which I began in 2023, entitled “Nuestra Hijas” translated into English “Our Daughters”. Within the last year, I have developed relationships with various families and able to photograph them in captivating settings from locations in the Bronx, Brooklyn and London entirely on film. By choosing to photograph the families on this medium, film helps to show the depth, warmth and the connection between my subjects. My own relationship with my father has inspired this project; he purchased my first camera which I still own today.

As a new member of Photofusion and a photographer from NYC, I was searching for a space that felt like home. From the moment I stepped into Photofusion’s new location, I was impressed by the incredible darkrooms and gallery space. I knew this was where I wanted to continue my journey as a documentary photographer in London.
